16 seconds after Central fans thought their team took a big step toward winning the Division II Super Bowl, Chariho High's Colton Place put a pin in the Knights' championship dreams.

In the fourth quarter, Central erased a 20-13 to take a 25-20 lead with 4:13 to go when Mike Washington scored on a short touchdown run. However, on the ensuing kickoff, Place took it 98-yards to the house for a 26-25 win for the Chargers.

Rhode Island High School Football Scores - Thanksgiving Day

by Jeff Fisher
Rhode Island High School Football Huddle

Westerly fans will remember the 100th anniversary game of America's most played rivalry for two reasons.

First, Westerly won the centennial game against arch-rival Stonington (Connecticut) 15-0.  Second, the Bulldogs ended Stonington's playoff hopes.

The win moves Westerly to within three victories of tying the all-time series that is led by Stonington 69-66-17.  On the other hand, Westerly now leads the Thanksgiving Day series 49-41-11.
